Another sucessful community project for the Ionia Jaycees. The Ionia Jaycees recently picked a project part of the Michigan Adopt-A-Highway program to clean up a section of a highway or county road. The section cleaned is from the corner of Tuttle and M66 to the T junction of M21 and M66. This segment covers Meijer Hill, Ionia Free Fair and our main entry into Ionia Downtown thus it is an important segment to keep clean and friendly for the commuters and pedestrians alike. We are very proud to help keep this section clean and hope to continue with our community service in the future as we have 2 more pickups secheduled during the summer and fall. Participants: Brett Patterson-President, Hiral Patel-Management VP, Hailie Patterson-Community VP, Jenny Cardenas-Individual Development VP, Jared Thompson-Treasurer, and Mike Fuller.

We would first like to thank McCords of Ionia, Walmart, Ionia Fishing & Hunting Club, Bertha Brock Park and Niles Electric (honorable mention Independent bank for signage use along M66) for donating to help put this event on. We were very excited about this event only to be even more overwhelmed yet excited about the turnout. 'JC' the bunny was a great sucess thanks to Ionia Fishing & Hunting Club. It was great to see the future of Ionia enjoying 'JC' the bunny along with the opportunity to hunt and find easter eggs. An added bonus of this event was the visitation, help and support by Fay Poissant President of the Michigan Jaycees. The future of the Ionia Jaycees easter egg hunt will be bigger and better as this was a project that gave us many challenges and new opportunities for improvement.

On March 14th, I was given the privilege of attending the annual "Project Legislature" at our state's Capitol Building. Accompanied by our Management VP, Hiral Patel, we started our temporary positions as State Representatives at nine am. As we entered the legislative floor, we seated ourselves in the middle, back half, of the Representative Chamber. By taking these desks, we took on the personas of State Representatives Gino Polidori and Andy Neumann, which put us on the "freedom" party, otherwise known as the Democratic majority party.

After an address from Representative Leblanc from Westland, we were told what our workday would consist of, and were given a packet of proposed bills that are affecting the State of Michigan currently.
